Kuala Lumpur. I've left Borneo! Six months to the day after I left the UK, I have arrived in Malaysia's capital.
Kuching was pretty cool, I'll try and write up some of the things I saw (Sarawak Cultural Village, Bako National Park) soon. Also bumped into a couple of Swedes that had been to Uncle Tan's and been told about the group that had been charged at by elephants. Heh. :)
Kuching, Sarawak. Somewhere new! I'm staying in the Anglican Guest House rather than Bedbug Inn, but I might change tomorrow. I've also booked my ticket to KL, so I leave here next Friday.
My Guide to Long Lellang is now up.
If it isn't Long Lellang, then it must be Miri. Just a couple of days to finish off writing my guide to Long Lellang, then I am heading off down towards Kuching.
Long Lellang, but it is closed! As I arrived, most of the population seemed to get on the little plane to leave. It could be a quiet few days.
Umm, Miri yet again after a seven hour journey by four-wheel drive on some pretty slippery logging roads. My location over the last few days was not as I expected it to be. I've still got some things to finish off in Long Lellang, so I've booked another ticket back there on Saturday.
If I haven't replied to an email you've sent over the last few days, it is because the server is down yet again. Hopefully it will be back up before I leave!
One of my friends in London has just started travelling around Asia himself, have a read of his blog at BootsNAll.
Long Sit, a Kenyah village a couple of hours ride by longboat from Long Sait. I was hoping to get to Long San, and from there fly back to Marudi today, and Long Lellang tomorrow, but this appears not to be possible, despite what my guide told me before I left Long Sait. Oh dear.
Long Sait, a Penan village one day's walk from Long Lellang (and a pretty arduous day at that).
Long Lellang in the Kelabit Highlands of Sarawak.
After a short flight from Kota Kinabalu, I arrived in Miri, Sarawak (again) at about midday today. I'm keeping my eyes peeled for any Bario folk that have "gone down for the weekend."
Most of the waking hours today have been spent on a coach from Tawau, past the entrance to Danum Valley, picking up a few passengers in Lahad Datu (ahh, happy memories) and back to KK. Now I am back at Lucy's Homestay in KK.
Arrived in Tawau this afternoon for a visit to Tawau Hills Park.
After a trip back upriver, I'm back in Uncle Tan's B&B, Gum Gum. I can't get to Tawau today, so I'm here for the night.
Uncle Tan's Wildlife Camp, somewhere off the Kinabatangan River.
Uncle Tan's B&B, Gum Gum (Mile 16 on the Sandakan Road).
